Sweetwater Sailing Charters was founded in 2016 by Captain Walter Reid . Captain Reid has had 30 years of extensive sailing experience on blue water . He started out windsurfing and fell in love with the art of sailing as a young man. Captain Reid has enjoyed a great career , primarily in the surgical arena as a surgical assistant focusing in orthopedics. During his later career, he joined a team of sales professionals marketing in the Atlanta Georgia area selling total joints implants and trauma products with one of the largest orthopedic company in the US . With great success along the way, Captain Reid was promoted to a corporate position managing a sales team as Director of Sales for the south east region . His performance as a great Team leader led him to a promotion as Vice President of US Sales for a major orthopedic manufacturer. Captain Reid was always working hard, but still honing his skills as a blue water sailor every chance he could. After retiring at 58, Captain Reid took his passion of sailing and his love of the sea to another level. He returned back to school and acquired his United States Coast Guard Captain’s License.

Captain Reid, while enjoying the skills of sailing wanted to create opportunities that would incorporate some of his past corporate skills and his joy of meeting new people. So, he began a journey and acquired a 50 foot Beneteau sailing yacht and started Sweetwater Sailing Charters, Inc., offering several options for customers. The first option was a natural for the Captain, a “Team Building” exercise. Captain Reid developed a Sailing Charter Team Building Program that is a perfect match for corporate venues that need to offer their sales team activities that coincide with their company goals during the meeting events . While many enjoy golf, a sailing experience is an event for the non golfers as well as an alternative or additional activity for the golfers. The key to this team building exercise is to pair up a group of six, possibly with an experienced manager or a top sales professional with a young diamond in the rough sales person. This exercise would promote working together, idea sharing, goal setting, problem solving and building camaraderie and trust between the participants while having fun! Sweetwater Sailing Team Building Excursions meet the needs of managers that are trying to utilize opportunities to educate their sales team while enjoying the wonderful Kiawah and Seabrook island environment. This trip starts at 9am and ends at 4pm.
